The leaves are changing, and you're asking your husband to bring down the Fall decorations down from the attic. It's the season for Pumpin Spice EVERYTHING, beautiful colors, and flannel.
But wait a second.... You don't have updated Fall photos to display!!! You panic for just a second, but then you remember you know someone!

So now you have scheduled your family photography session, and you are feeling great. Now it is time to research and get tips to make your session a success, and I have some right here!
WHAT TO WEAR?
This is always the big topic of discussion with the whole family, and it sometimes feels impossible to coordinate the whole family. From the little ones going crazy and not wanting to wear what you picked out, to dad not really interested (yes... I just dissed my own gender).
So first, you must decide on what colors to wear. Click here and here for some suggestions. These links will direct you down the path on this year's hottest color combinations, and will coordinate the whole family to match and look fantastic!
Now moms... let's be very clear. START WITH YOURSELF! Be real, if you look good, the whole family will look awesome! Pinterest is your friend. Neutral colors that won't clash with the beautiful landscape that is fall is key. And accessories that reflect the season are a must.
What about the little ones? This is the perfect season for layering! Cute cardigans and jackets will add accent to your photographs. Don't be scared of patterns and textures. Most photographers will say to stay away... I feel very different about this. It highlights the kids, shows their personalities, and creates an interesting photograph. Who wants flat, multi-toned photos?!?
WHERE TO GO?
Okay, okay... we are getting somewhere. Now we have to decide on where to go for your session. Have no fear, this is the easy part!
Choosing a location for any photography session depends on personality. But in our Fall family sessions, we want to highlight the family, as well as the season. Look for places that will truly represent Fall and rustic themes. I ALWAYS suggest farms or parks with lakes and beautiful piers. The shots here are gorgeous!
Also look for locations with diversity. Rustic barns for texture, open fields for candids, and landscapes that can be incorporated. You will certainly get your money's worth out of these. A few locations in the Atlanta-area are Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain, GA, McDaniel Farm Park in Norcross, GA, and Berry College in Rome, GA.
WHAT TIME?
The number one thing that will always make a photographer cringe the most is when a client wants to capture photographs in the middle of the day... and there is a reason why!
Lighting either after sunrise or before sunset is absolutely ideal. This is called the "Golden Hour" for photography. Just click the link, and you will understand more!
So the perfect time in the fall? Sunrise+2 hours or 2 hours before sunset. Talk to your photographer for sessions available in this time frame!
But more importantly, these areas will be less busy during the week. As we all know, everyone is flocking to parks and destinations to enjoy the beautiful landscaping and color that this season provides. DON'T GET CAUGHT IN THE CROWD! Ask about weekday sessions. You will not be disappointed, and it provides less stress on the whole family!
